Who is responsible
ELECTAC Ltd is the data controller. Registered in England and Wales, company number 06427393. Registered office: 9 Brookway Trading Estate, Hambridge Lane, Newbury, Berkshire, England, RG14 5PE. Telephone 01635 581 535.
For anything about your personal information, email sales@electac.com or ring the number above. We have one month to answer a request about your own data.
What this website collects
If you only browse: one cookie, __shop_cart, holding an identifier for your
basket. It is set only when you put something in the basket. Your choice of seeing prices
with or without VAT is remembered in your browser and never sent anywhere.
If you buy or ask for a quote: your name, company, email address and telephone number; your delivery address; what you ordered and the price; a purchase order number if you give one; and any note you write.
Card details never reach Electac and never reach this website. They go directly to Stripe. We see only whether a payment succeeded.
There is no advertising on this website and nothing that follows you elsewhere. We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are read, and only if you agree to it — if you decline, or you ignore the question, nothing is loaded and nothing is stored. See Cookies below.
Why we are allowed to hold it
To perform our contract with you — we cannot deliver an order without your details. For our legitimate interests in answering enquiries and preventing fraud. And to meet our legal obligations in keeping sales and VAT records.
Who else sees it
Only those who must: Stripe for your payment; Resend to deliver our email; Hetzner, who host the site and its database in Germany; Cloudflare as our network provider; Springfield Studios, who built and maintain the site; and the carrier who delivers your order. We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for anyone's marketing.
Google joins that list only if you agree to analytics, and only for the browsing information described under Cookies — never your order, your address or anything you typed. Google is based outside the UK, which is one of the reasons we ask first and load nothing until you answer.
Which carrier takes a particular order depends on its size and destination. Ask us and we will tell you who has yours.
How long we keep it
Orders and invoices are kept for seven years. We have no choice about most of that: HMRC requires VAT records to be kept for six.
A quote request that does not become an order is kept for twelve months, so that we can pick up where we left off if you come back to it, and then deleted.
The __shop_cart cookie lasts 30 days, or until you clear it. An abandoned
basket is deleted with it.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, ask us to restrict what we do with it, or object to our using it. Write to us and we will reply within one month. Some rights have limits — we cannot delete an invoice we are required to keep.
Cookies
Essential, and set without asking: __shop_cart, which
remembers your basket between pages and lasts 30 days, and __shop_order,
which lets the confirmation page show you the order you have just placed. An essential
cookie does not require consent, because without it the shop cannot do the thing you
asked it to.
Analytics, only if you agree: we use Google Analytics to count visits
and see which pages are read and which are not. It stores cookies beginning
_ga in your browser, which last up to two years, and it tells Google your
IP address, roughly where in the country you are, and which pages you looked at.
Nothing of Google's is loaded until you say yes. We do not load it and
ask afterwards, and declining is a real answer rather than a delay — if you say no, or
close the page without answering, no Google code runs and no _ga cookie is
created. The shop behaves identically either way; we get no analytics, which is the only
consequence.
You can change your mind at any time using Cookie settings, which is also at the foot of every page. Choosing "no thanks" there stops anything further being stored; to clear what is already there, delete this site's cookies in your browser.
Keeping it safe
The site is served only over an encrypted connection. The basket cookie cannot be read by scripts in your browser. Card details never reach our systems. Access to the order database is limited, and the administration area sits behind a password in addition to its own login.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
